Twelve years, eleven studios and one obsession: that the craft be taken seriously.

How it started

Calipso did not come out of a business plan but out of a tattooist tired of makeshift studios. The first studio was Valencia, which today is still the flagship: the one with the greatest volume, the one that rotates the most artists and the one with the most reviews in the whole chain. The second was A Coruña. From there the house grew across Galicia and came down the Mediterranean until the map looked as it does today.

Why a chain and not a franchise

A franchise sells the name. We open, fit out and run every studio ourselves. That lets us guarantee three things: the same equipment everywhere, the same hygiene protocols and the same way of looking after you. If something goes wrong, there is nobody else to point at: it is us.

A Coruña, three moves on the same street

A Coruña was our second studio and the one that best tells how this house grows: it has changed premises three times without ever leaving Ronda de Nelle, moving each time to a larger space as the need arose. Today it is at number 107.

Fully digitalised studios

The booking, the client record, the informed consent form and the record of every session are digitalised across all eleven studios. There are no papers to go missing and no files that exist only in a drawer: your history travels with you from one studio to another, just as our artists do.

The artists

Our tattooists are award winners at national and international conventions and they rotate between studios, so a realism artist might tattoo you in Vigo one month and in Alicante the next. If there is someone particular you want, write to us and we will find the date.
