Our Santiago studio sits on Avenida de Rosalía de Castro, a ten-minute walk from the Praza do Obradoiro. It is by far the most international studio in the chain: every week we welcome pilgrims who have just finished the Camino de Santiago and want to carry the scallop shell, the yellow arrow or their arrival date home in ink.
With 4.9 out of 5 on Google, it is also the highest-rated Calipso studio. We work in English and Spanish and we are well used to finishing a piece the same day for anyone flying home tomorrow.
The Way of St James tattoo
The scallop shell, the cross of Saint James, the yellow arrow, kilometre zero, the cathedral coordinates or simply the date you arrived: these are the pieces we do most, and we do them well. We also draw up versions that step away from the cliché if you want something nobody else is wearing.
If you have only just arrived and your skin has taken a beating from the sun or the rub of a rucksack, tell us: we assess the area before tattooing and, if need be, we will suggest a different placement.
We are close to the old town, the Alameda and the university quarter, so it is easy to drop in before or after the Pilgrim’s Mass.

Services
Piercing is the service that brings most people through our door, and that is why it is the one we look after most closely. We always pierce with a needle, never with a gun: a gun crushes the tissue and cannot be sterilised. Before we mark anything we study your anatomy, because a badly measured ear will not heal, however good it looks on day one. We work with ASTM F-136 implant-grade titanium and 14-carat gold jewellery, we pierce children's lobes with a needle and proper care throughout, and we book you in for a check-up and a jewellery change when the time comes. Every one of our piercers has over five years of experience.

We work in every style: black-and-grey realism, saturated colour, American traditional, Japanese, blackwork, geometric, fine line, lettering and cover-ups of older work. Hair-stroke and powder brow permanent makeup, eyeliner and lip work, with pigments that fade without turning strange colours. A colour test and a touch-up session are always included. Areola reconstruction for women who have been through breast cancer is free at every one of our studios.

We use a Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser, which fragments the pigment so your body can clear it. It works for complete removal or simply for lightening so a new piece can cover it. The number of sessions depends on the colour, the age of the tattoo and your skin: on your first visit we give you an honest estimate.

We recommend booking, especially for larger pieces. That said, most of our studios take walk-ins for small tattoos and piercings, subject to availability on the day.
