The house
We are not a franchise. We are one same house eleven times over.
Calipso grew out of a personal project: a tattooist who wanted a place where the craft was taken seriously. Ponferrada first. Then Valencia. And from there, studio by studio, until the map was covered.
Every studio is ours. We sell no licences and we rent out no name. That means the equipment, the hygiene protocols, the training and the way you are looked after are identical in Vigo and in Alicante — and that if an artist in Madrid is the better fit for your idea, they travel to whichever studio suits you.
All eleven studios are fully digitalised: the booking, the client record, the informed consent form and the log of every session are kept digitally, not in a notebook. That means that if you were tattooed in Vigo and three years later you want the touch-up in Alicante, your history is right there.
The interiors are the same everywhere too, down to the last detail: pressed black-and-white hydraulic cement tiles, bevelled black metro tile, damask wallpaper, leather Chesterfield armchairs, chandeliers, neon and a cabinet of curiosities gathered from half the world. Walking into any Calipso is walking into the same house. And every one of them is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

It is the service that brings most people through our door, in all eleven studios. Needle, never a gun. Implant-grade titanium. And a team that has been doing this every day for years.

Piercing is the service that brings most people through our door, and that is why it is the one we look after most closely. We always pierce with a needle, never with a gun: a gun crushes the tissue and cannot be sterilised. Before we mark anything we study your anatomy, because a badly measured ear will not heal, however good it looks on day one. We work with ASTM F-136 implant-grade titanium and 14-carat gold jewellery, we pierce children's lobes with a needle and proper care throughout, and we book you in for a check-up and a jewellery change when the time comes. Every one of our piercers has over five years of experience.

We work in every style: black-and-grey realism, saturated colour, American traditional, Japanese, blackwork, geometric, fine line, lettering and cover-ups of older work. Hair-stroke and powder brow permanent makeup, eyeliner and lip work, with pigments that fade without turning strange colours. A colour test and a touch-up session are always included. Areola reconstruction for women who have been through breast cancer is free at every one of our studios.

We use a Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser, which fragments the pigment so your body can clear it. It works for complete removal or simply for lightening so a new piece can cover it. The number of sessions depends on the colour, the age of the tattoo and your skin: on your first visit we give you an honest estimate.

From the idea to the skin
Four steps. Not one more. This is how we work across all eleven studios.
Tell us about it
On WhatsApp, through the form or by walking through the door. Area, size, style and references. If you are not sure yet, all the better: that is what we are here for.
Design and quote
Your artist prepares the proposal and gives you a fixed price before anything is touched. It is adjusted until you say yes.
The session
Sterile single-use equipment, your own booth and however long it takes. You are welcome to bring someone with you.
Aftercare and touch-up
You leave with clear instructions and with us at the other end of the phone. The line touch-up is included.
Before you come in
We recommend booking, especially for larger pieces. That said, most of our studios take walk-ins for small tattoos and piercings, subject to availability on the day.
It depends on the size, the area and the level of detail. Each studio has a session minimum and we always give you a fixed price before we start. Send us your idea and we will quote it with no obligation.
No. In Spain you must be over 18 and show photographic ID. In Guadalajara (Mexico) local regulations apply.
Sterile single-use needles and tubes, inks certified under European REACH regulations, and a disinfection protocol logged for every session.
Yes. Our artists rotate between studios. If there is someone particular you want, tell us and we will arrange a date in whichever city suits you.
Never. We always pierce with a sterile single-use needle. A gun crushes the tissue instead of passing through it cleanly, it cannot be fully sterilised and it lengthens healing. That includes children's earlobes.
ASTM F-136 implant-grade titanium and 14-carat gold. It is the quality used in surgery and the one that causes fewest reactions. No cheap surgical steel.
Our studios work in Spanish and English. In Santiago, Valencia and Alicante we welcome travellers every day and we are used to making ourselves understood however it takes.
